Acne Treatment For Women With Spironolactone
Spironolactone is a steroid and has anti-androgenic effects in women. The androgen hormones are responsible for excess sebum production. Spironolactone is used to control androgen hormones in women. With reduction in the level of androgens, the sebaceous gland reduces its activity and excess sebum is not produced. As sebum production reduces, acne gets cured.
This medicine should be taken strictly under medical supervision, as it is not recommended for use in some cases. It should not be taken during pregnancy.
