Acne Scars & Microdermabrasion

Acne Scars And Microdermabrasion

Can microdermabrasion be used to remove acne scars? In microdermabrasion very small crystals are thrown at a high speed on the skin and collected back by vacuum. These small crystals abrade the skin surface in a minimal way and remove the dead skin cells.

With repeated microdermabrasion treatments, some improvement may be seen in the scars. As new skin keeps forming, the scars may get less conspicuous. You can at least soften the scars if not remove them fully with microdermabrasion.

Common procedures that are used to treat acne scars are chemical peeling, dermabrasion, and laser. These are sometimes painful and costly. Microdermabrasion is neither costly nor painful.

Keloid scars cannot be treated with microdermabrasion. Only depressed scars can be treated.

There are different types of microdermabrasion machines. The machines used by doctors have more abrasive power compared to those used by beauty salons. You can also buy a home use machines.

Acne & Sunshine

Despite the belief that acne gets cleared by sunshine, there is no scientific evidence to this. Excess sun can damage your skin rather than treating acne.
