Acne- Can It Be Prevented?

To find out if acne can be prevented, let us look at the cause of acne. The causes of acne formation are: blocked pores, excess production of sebum, infection in the sebum and the gland.

What can be done to prevent acne formation? Can we prevent the pores from getting blocked? That will stop sebum accumulation and infection. How can that be done? The pores get blocked with dead skin cells. If we remove these dead cells regularly, the pores will remain open. To remove the dead cells, AHAs can be used. AHAs dissolve the cement that binds the dead cells together. Salicylic acid also does the same. By removing this cement the dead cells are removed. Retinoids also peel off the layer of dead skin and increase the turnover and formation of new cells. Use of these products regularly can help keep the pores open.

Acne & Sunshine

Despite the belief that acne gets cleared by sunshine, there is no scientific evidence to this. Excess sun can damage your skin rather than treating acne.
