Acne And Clothing

A woman found that she got acne where her bra straps touched her body. An athlete complained that he got acne on his forehead where his headband was tied. These are instances of acne that is caused by clothing. What is the connection between body acne and clothing?

Your clothing may cause acne if:

  • The clothes rub against the skin,
  • Clothes are tight fitting,
  • Clothes are made of synthetics that do not allow sweat to evaporate.

This type of acne is called Acne Mechanica. To learn more about how it is formed, and how to treat it click here.
