Facts About Chlamydia
- If Chlamydia is not treated, it can lead to Pelvic Inflammatory Disease in women. This is an infection of the reproductive organs of women and can lead to infertility.
- Reiter's Syndrome may be caused by untreated chlamydia. This syndrome causes three seemingly unrelated problems- urinary tract problems, arthritis and redness in the eyes.
- People who get infected with chlamydia are many times also infected with gonorrhea.
- Shaking hands does not pass on chlamydia.
- Condom use may prevent the infection to a great extent.
