Prescription Pills
Not many women know that some prescription pills can also help reduce hair growth. Your doctor may consider prescribing these pills if you have a problem with hormones because of polycystic ovary disease or are not responding to other hair removal therapies. These pills are not commonly prescribed and are not to be used recklessly. The first is spironolactone. This drug makes the kidneys eliminate excess water from the body in the form of urine. This pill is normally prescribed for high blood pressure. Talk to your doctor about this medication because it is known to cause tumors in laboratory animals.
The second pill is that of cimetidine. This medicine is commonly used to treat heartburn, acidity and ulcers. This drug can cause side-effects such as nervousness, confusion, etc. Presently, cimetidine is not being prescribed for hirsutism.
