Nail Fungus: Diagnosis

Diagnosis

Many times, a nail suffering from psoriasis may look similar to one with fungal infection. Some bacterial infections of the injured nail may also create similar condition. Some allergic reactions of the nail may also look like a fungal infection. Therefore, before beginning the treatment, your doctor will find out if the infection is due to fungus and if yes, the fungus type. For that, a culture of a sample collected from the crumbling area is done in a lab and the treatment begins only after confirming the disease.
