Treatment Of Atopic Dermatitis With Moisturizers
Unlike common belief, moisturizers don't add water to the skin. They block the skin water from evaporation and thus keep skin moist. Moisturizers help dry skin and reduce itching. By moisturizing the skin, they also control the recurrent flare-ups. It is best to use a moisturizer within three minutes of taking bath, twice a day. By that time, the moisture from skin is not lost and moisturizers mix well with the water remaining on the skin and spread well. Use moisturizers added with perfumes or other additives only after consulting your doctor. Sometimes the additives may act as triggers and irritate the skin further.
