Facts About Melasma
- Melasma or Cholasma is the hyper-pigmentation of facial skin.
- Melasma commonly occurs in women during pregnancy.
- Melasma can also occur due to hormonal changes. Birth control pills may also cause it.
- Sun exposure is required to develop melasma. So if you protect yourself fully from sun, you will not get melasma.
- Men may also get sun-induced melasma. This is mainly caused by skin and hair care products that cause allergic reactions in the sun.
- Melasma spots may fade over time.
- Bleaching the spotted skin is the quickest remedy.
