Melasma is also called the mask of pregnancy. But not only do women, but also men develop melasma. Melasma or cholasma is dark pigmentation that affects the cheeks, forehead, and upper lips. It generally develops during pregnancy and fades over time. Men also get it. Women who are on birth control pills may also develop melasma. It is an irritating cosmetic condition that is accelerated by sun exposure. Several bleaching combinations may be used to treat melasma.
