Other Reasons Of Hair Loss
There are many other conditions that can cause hair loss.
- Women lose lot of hair after pregnancy, but it regrows after some time.
- You may also lose hair after high fever or infection. That hair also grows back.
- Stress causes hair loss, which is also reversible. Note, that it is not ordinary day-to-day stress, but a sudden stress of high intensity that does it. Also, only some people lose hair due to sudden stress.
- Chemotherapy during cancer causes hair loss.
- Many other medicines given for diseases such as arthritis, depression, etc., may cause hair loss. You should ask your doctor about the effect of any medicine prescribed for you and its connection to your hair loss.
- Thyroid problem leads to hair loss. Your doctor can treat that.
- Low iron in diet, low protein intake can also cause hair loss.
- A cause of hair loss may be scalp damage due to pulling of hair regularly by adopting a wrong hairstyle.
- Permanent follicle damage may happen due to chemical treatment of hair (involving heat). Such treatments include perming, hair straightening, etc. Discuss these treatments with your salon technician and their possible effect on your scalp and hair.
- Always treat your hair gently. Brushing it vigorously, and treating it roughly when it is wet will surely lead to hair damage.
The best option is to discuss about different possibilities with your doctor about hair loss and try to correct it. Only in rare instances, should you lose hope and reconcile yourself with hair loss.
