In the case of alopecia areata, the preferred treatment is injecting steroid in the bald patch. Your doctor may prescribe topical application of immuno-modulators to be applied on the bald patches. Ultraviolet light is also used to treat alopecia areata. Your doctor will decide the kind of treatment that will help you. The common medications now used for hair loss are minoxidil and finasteride.
