Facts About Gonorrhea


  • To prevent gonorrhea, avoid oral sex. Use latex condoms whenever you indulge in sex.
  • Taking OTC pain relievers may reduce the symptoms of gonorrhea. But they don't cure gonorrhea.
  • Oral sex can cause gonorrhea of the throat also called as pharyngeal gonorrhea. This causes redness in throat, painful swallowing and sore throat. If you get gonorrhea in throat, contact your doctor immediately.
  • Women get very mild symptoms of gonorrhea. If at all, they may feel some burning in urination and discharge from vagina or urethra.
  • If gonorrhea is left untreated, it can lead to widespread infection in the body.
