Ringworm is a skin problem that can affect many parts of the human body. When ringworm appears on the trunk, hands and legs, it is called ringworm of the body. It is also called tinea corporis. Different areas affected by ringworm are given different names. The ringworm of the scalp is called tinea capitis. Though the name is ringworm, this disease has nothing to do with any worm. It is caused by a fungus. As the rashes develop in a ring form, it is called ringworm. This is a contagious disease. Some people suffer from it all their life, off and on. Lets find out more about it because repetitive ringworm can damage the appearance of the skin.
