Prevention Of Lyme Disease

  • Don't expose skin in endemic areas. Use full length trousers, shirts with full sleeves and shoes with socks. Tuck the trouser bottom in your socks and wear a hat and gloves if possible. Use light colored clothing which will make it easier to spot any tick.
  • After returning home, take a bath. Check yourself thoroughly for any tick. If you find any, remove it with tweezers. Don't squash it, but pull it out. If you fail to pull it out, ask your doctor to do that.
  • Ask your doctor about the kind of insecticide, you can use on your exposed body and the exposed body of the children.
  • Keep your yard free of any grass, brushes.
  • Keep animals such as deer away if you live in a forest area.
