Causes Of Erysipelas
Erysipelas is caused by bacteria. Like cellulitis, erysipelas is also a bacterial infection of the skin. Streptococcus bacteria usually cause erysipelas. Those who are immune deficient, get erysipelas easily. Any crack or breach in the skin gives entry to bacteria to enter and infect the skin. If you have leg infections such as Athlete's Foot, you can get erysipelas by secondary infection with bacteria. Eczema with blisters may also give opening to bacteria.
