Dandruff Facts
- Dandruff is a form of Seborrheic Dermatitis.
- Dandruff begins after puberty because it is connected with sebaceous glands.
- Dandruff itches because of inflammation that may be present.
- Dandruff is not caused due to dry skin.
- Dandruff is believed to be caused by a fungus.
- In dandruff, the affected area, normally the scalp, sheds cells at a higher than normal speed. These dead cells combine with sebum and form flakes.
- The fungus feeds on the sebum. If your scalp is oilier, dandruff is difficult to control.
