Stretch Marks: Overview

Stretch Marks

Fine lines running across different parts of the body and changing in color after a certain period are called stretch marks. These marks also called as striae distensae. Stretch marks normally form in women during pregnancy and in teenagers when they grow obese fast. The reason is stretching of the skin because of some factors and the inability to produce more collagen and elastin by the dermal layer because of some hormones. As skin stretches without adequate dermal support, it stretches at the dermal level and the marks become visible. As yet, there is no surefire treatment for stretch marks, though many therapies are suggested. There is also no way to prevent them from forming. Let us find out more about stretch marks.
