Hair & Chlorine

Chlorine is a chemical that is added to swimming pool water to keep it free of bacteria. Chlorine can damage your hair if you swim in the pool and don't wash the chlorine away. The best idea would be to wear a cap to avoid hair coming in touch with hair. Chlorine causes damage to the outer most layer of hair, the cuticle and cracks it. Once the cuticle is cracked, the inner hair parts are exposed and the hair become brittle, develops split ends and loses shine and strength.

If you have undergone chemical treatments of hair such as perming, coloring, etc., the damage of chlorine can be more because all the chemical treatments weaken the cuticle. Use a chlorine removal shampoo after swimming in the pool.
